81 CB650 Western Massachusetts

New member from MA. I would usually use the CB650 forums, but this site seems to have a larger set of users and activity. Here are a few pics of my bike.  I bought this bike last fall on Craigslist for $400.  Currently in the middle of doing a top end gasket change and trying to clean up these carbon deposits.

That picture is from when I first purchased the bike. I now have some drag bars on it. I want to eventually chop the frame and create a new seat pan and make my own single person seat. I also want to get these huge brake lights and directionals off for something sleaker. Prob some bar end mirrors. That's about it for appearance. I Rebuilt the carbs last fall. Had a small oil drip from what seemed like the gaskets which prompted me to order a top end gasket kit and go from there. First thing first, get it back running and then work on appearance.

Nice bike. Hope you get the head freshened up before you put it back on.  The carbon deposits could be from valve seals.   It's a good opportunity to get her back to her greatness.   Great deal on cl
