Oil leak from crankshaft seal question (fixed I think)
« on: May 25, 2015, 07:02:36 PM »
Noticed a slight oil leak from crank seal on my cb750. Have a question, not do much about replacing but hopefully fixing? Posted here on my project thread

Thanks for looking!

I think I fixed it by lightly tapping edge of seal so it sits square in its spot now. 30 mile ride and all dry so far. Fingers crossed that did the trick.

That's great! Be sure to add some permatex around the edge too. If it slips out of place again, I'd be worried about the crank twisting???

Their #2 non hardening one, easy to use and washes right out with acetone on disassembly.

I meant apply it on the outside of the rim as I assumed you didn't pull it out all the way and then drove it back in...
