Looking For Any Info On Roto Faze Ignition
« on: July 10, 2015, 09:24:43 PM »
Just picked up a bike with a Roto Faze ignition on it, I have not seen one of these units before, does anybody know anything about them? were they a race only item?, it's a belt driven 1930 Ford tractor distributor from what i'm told, adapted to the side of the case, kinda cool looking, but is it better than a regular electronic ignition?
So, just joined, first post, have not had a CB750 for a long time, owned several, 25 yrs ago, I got away from them in favor of the Kawasaki Z1 and Z1R's, but I always had more fun on the Honda's, now, I have had two CB750's land in my lap in in the last two weeks, my goal is to make one good one out of them, I will be visiting here often as this appears to be a pretty cool forum, thanks for being here and thanks for any input you may have.
Thanks from the FNG.

I bought one a few years back for a buddies bike.
Search. Online the guy that made them makes them for some hotrods as well.
See if you can tell me what coil is on yours, we did not get a coil with it.

The coil is just a MSB blaster, same thing you would find on a car, Roto Faze is still in business, he ground some camshafts for our V6 race engines (Honda) a few years back, I will contact him to see if service parts are still available, but what I'm really wondering if a standard electronic ignition is as good or better, this thing does look cool though, but a belt driven distributor, it makes me wonder how stable the timing is.
Im curious how many of these things are still out there working.

We used to sell those. It wa not a Ford Tractor head, that was the ARD> This distributor used points available from any auto parts store.   Like the ARD, it was proven not to make as much power as a Dyna S.
