CB400F Stock Air filter
« on: August 09, 2015, 06:39:21 PM »
Anyone who has ever pulled the stock rubber air filter boots off the carburetors air intakes knows what a pain it is to reinstall them especially on the two inside carbs.  Might some of you have a trick or two to make this process easier?

Only ever done a CB350F and they just popped back on. I use WD40 to help the rubber slide on over the carb intakes.

I had the metal connector that joins the plastic air box to the metal housing for the air filter pulled back inside the air filter box to allow the plastic air box to be back further for plenty of clearance behind the carbs. They just pushed straight on with no issues and I reconnected the metal tube back into the plastic air box once the clamps were buttoned down on each carb manifold.

These are a breeze compared to doing the DOHC carbs on the 900/1000cc bikes.

I use the inner tube of a tire to do that, just snake it in to the airbox, line up the intake ports and pump air in to the tube once it starts to build some pressure the ports slide right in after that you can tighten the clamps. It's dead simple using that method.
