So after ordering my second set of DID rims, one made in Thailand, and the other made in Indonesia I am starting to question the quality.  For starters the seam is a hit or a miss proposition.  The seam in my Thia rear wheel was like the grand canyon.  Same for front Indonesia.

Now my 40 year old ones made in Japan seem to be better than the replacements.  Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this?  I understand spokes rims are not perfect, but this was like and old wagon wheel.

Rims look bad on the outside or inside only?
My DID rims had rather sharp grinding marks where welded together that I deburred and painted to make it softer. I used the paint I had, motor spray paint.
I did not want future flat tires due to sharp edges or metal burrs. Outside look good
Both new, one from CMSNL and one from a CB750 collector guy I know.

They look great on the outside.  The weld seam is deep not smooth at all.  Side to side was way off.  Lots of time on the truing stand.
