What do you put under your bike?
« on: August 12, 2015, 08:36:39 PM »
I have a red commercial door mat that I think I found in the house when I bought it. It catches the little drips and keeps the concrete looking less stained.

I'm looking for a second one to keep inside but I thought I would see what you guys use and if I might like it better.

Drips? These bikes don't drip.  I hate doing oil change, especially the 750s, usually good qt. of oil drains on to the square bricks floor

Old floor rugs and cardboard. Have some thick neoprene mats for the knees. Will say a dropped bolt or little part moves around less when dropped on a rug ;)  Might sometimes spot a little cup of whiskey, coke and ice also  :o

The question didn't specify when do you put stuff under it.

In that case, when changing the oil and filter, I do spread out a bunch of oil dry on the floor.

OK, so the obvious question is.........................
If you were riding instead of being parked, you wouldn't have to worry about leaks.
So why is it parked for long enough to even consider leaks?  :)
Or, are you looking for something to keep the tires warm?  :)

Cardboard after a oil change or chain lube. Concrete after that.

Bricks.  If there's not a little drop of oil under the bike, that means it needs oil . . .

Newspaper to catch the overspray when I lube the chain and as a bit of safety when I change the oil. The only mark this ratty old bike is leaving is from the sidestand on the cement floor.

An old sock under the side stand. either the chain oiler or the output shaft is leaking. Oh boy.

Its on the backyard grass - I've never had oil leak from it, not in the whole long while I've owned it.  Now gas on the other hand, yeah well dry grass and gas don't mix, but it doesn't seem to harm the weeds any.
