« on: September 07, 2015, 09:26:51 AM »

Looking to do my second restoration project (first was a simple RD200 in the '80s [sic.]).
Toying with a barn find '74 500/4 but at $1400!!!! (Rough conversion from GB £)
Looks complete but not been run for years (could be decades) am I insane?

Welcome.

You are as sane as most of us here - not sure if it's a good thing or bad thing  ;D

that is too much money  unless the model is tough to find in UK.  See you're from Newtown, do you remember Riff's Cycle Center in Langhorne?    I was a mechanic and then became service manager back in the 70s.   Riff's was one of the larger dealers in the area at the time-almost the same volume as Montgomeryville, where I also worked...Larry

Actually a self appointed exile, only spent 4 and a bit years there - my heart is still there!
Arrived in Aug 2001 - just in time for 911 - insert various expletives concerning parental marital status here!!
We actually lived just south off the Buck Rd (Feasterville side).
Only got to Langhorne a couple of times (and was usually drunk by the time I left :-)
