Another CB750K2 Refurbishment Project
« on: December 07, 2015, 04:35:20 PM »
Continued from HERE

Was given a chopper-ized basket case 1972 CB750 back in 2008, put it back together and rode it for a year.

Motor was showing it's age. After a rather high-speed interstate run the old girl barely made it home and refused to start the next day. Figured I burned a piston so parked it for 5 years.
Decided to get back on it so pulled the motor (last week) and tore into the motor today. Pleased to see cylinders and pistons in good condition but carbon was trapped under two exhaust valves (and the others leaking, loose guides).

Plan on cylinder head rebuilding, ball hone and new rings. Case is holed around the drive chain (epoxied) and jumps out of 4th under power. Haven't decided if I want to split the case and address these issues or not.

Made an adapter from scrap to keep the thing off the floor.
