Oil Leak
« on: December 02, 2015, 07:16:37 PM »
It has been years since I posted.  I have a 1973 CB350F which I purchased non running about 8 years ago.  After a oil change and tune up it ran, but had an oil leak on the left side at the head gasket junction. There is no warping on the cylinders or head.  Pistons, rings, and valves are basically new.  The bike runs well.  I have tried in vain to repair the problem including a copper head gasket.  On removing the head this evening there is significant oil on the head gasket and piston tops.  My suspicion is that it is coming from the oil ports, and poor seals in those areas between the head and the cylinders. Is it wise to use permatex when installing new seals?  Should I be looking at other issues?  Any input is appreciated.
