I believe you'll need to separate the wheels from the bike to get top dollar for both.  The green bike will sell for more with the stock wheels/fresh tires installed in my opinion.

+1.  All original bikes typically sell for more than modded bikes.  Now is not a good time to sell, but in a couple months, you should have no prob selling each for $4K...

You posted to hipster bait café racers.
Maybe they sold, maybe they didn't.

Either way it is a totally different market.
And a VERY MUCH shrinking one.
There will always be buyers for stock bikes.  The market values "survivor" stuff FAR more then restored, I don't see that changing any time soon.
But in much the way that 70s-80s choppers are worthless, so will these pipeburn café racers soon.

At the end of the day this is all just talk.
Roll the dice and list them.  They are only worth what someone is willing to pay.

I agree. I think people looking at buying those bikes would consider the Lesters included in the price, so asking an extra grand on top of what you want for them would be pushing it a little. Separating the Lesters from the bikes and selling them (or keeping them  ;D) would net top dollar.

After thinking about it.....might be better off putting the spokers on the bike and selling the Lesters separate. Like already mentioned.....you can't really jack the price on the bikes to the tune of $1K because of the Lesters. You can sell the bike around what you want though and get close to the $1K for the Lesters on their own. If the guy buys the bike with the spokers I would think he would only pay a little extra to get the Lesters. Does this make sense?

I agree with what everyone else says about the Lester's.  I also disagree with the vintage Japanese bike market bubble being burst.  I feel with more bikes available in the market buyers are being more particular of what they're spending top dollar on.  They days of slapping together a franken bike and selling it for $5k are definitely over but a good original sohc with relatively low miles or a quality built and engineered cafe' bike will continue to bring top dollar as well as continue to rise in value.  Like with vintage cars the real good quality restored or original well sorted stuff will always be a good investment over time, where a half assed backyard restoration is really just worth what you can fool someone into thinking its worth.  And eBay is tough to base value with shill bidding and you can pretty much tell when a $3000 bike sells for $7000 unless the bike has crazy low mileage or in museum quality condition... again totally my opinion and I could be totally wrong... Again beautiful bikes and that candy jade was such a great color on 550's

$5k came to mind for the first bike, same or slightly less for the second? +/- $1k depending on season and local market. Very nice bikes but I don't think even a pristine 550 with Lesters will bring what a similar 750 would. Just my subjective opinion...

You would be surprised Dunk. The 550's seem to command the same cash as the 750's. Look through sales on Ebay....you'll see what I mean.

I agree with selling the bikes with the original spoked wheels. My CB550 with stock pipes, stock engine, and custom paint sold for 3900 this year on eBay. I don't think the 'cafe' market has bust, but it is slowing down for the 750's. Two years ago, the 750s were sought after. Now, it seems the 550s are more the flavor. That being said, Los Angeles is still a hot market for modded bikes with prices between 3500 to 6000 for custom bikes. I believe unmolested, titled examples of CBs will become more sought after and are going up in price due to it being hard to find one without the frame chopped or blacked out with spray paint.
If I was in the market, I would but an original like yours and leave it alone. I wish I would have kept my old 75 CB550 with the original exhaust in excellent shape-those are even harder to find.

This is good info.  We are hearing of many reports of ebay sales that dont go through for whatever reason.
Would you mind posting the link to the listing if it is still available? Thx.

I sold this for $4500 a few years ago.

I do not in any way think that was normal.
Couldn't do it again if I tried.

I sold my 77' CB550F two years ago for $2700 or $2900, can't remember and the guy shipped it to Arkansa. The exhaust was mint.

Yeah, that's what I was saying: I've seen WORSE bikes sell for MORE, and BETTER bikes sold for LESS.

There are a lot of variables, Scott. Time of year, location and bidding wars can all effect sales prices.
