Topic: lower race?

I am looking for a way to get the lower race off the steering stem.

I use the steering stops as fulcrums and a pair of large screwdrivers.

I just changed mine last week. Used a hammer and a long punch and tapped it off in less than a minute. If it is grimy/rusty you can use a small torch to heat the race and then tap it off. I have had really nasty ones where I used my dremel tool with a cutting disc and cut a slot in the race and then tapped it off. Take care not to nick the stem with the cutting wheel. I only had to do that once, 99% of the ones I have done just needed the hammer and punch.

Thanks the pics are great I am just going to have to wait until Monday for I don't have a good vice to hold it.
 need to take it to work for sandblasting any ways.No rust should be easy to do with the right tools.

 I've got a heavy sharp duty putty knife I can tap in behind it to get it loose then use pry bars.

I used a small punch and a hammer and just kept at it for several strikes at 12 and 6. Or 2 and 8. You get it. Easy.
