400F carb rebuild kit ?
« on: March 06, 2016, 03:32:10 PM »
Hey folks ! Sorry to bother you. Finally found the carb body I needed ( Thanks>harisuluv ) !! Now I'm looking to rebuild them. Since the bike has low miles 14xxx I'm thinking all the brass should Not be warn bad ! Therefore I plan on simply cleaning all the metal and replacing the soft parts (gaskets). Here is where I ask for opinions and help. I'm trying to find the (best for the money) gasket/rebuild kits! My parts guild lists it to be part#16010-333-004. I looked up that number on Ebay and found a few listings, but there were differences in the amount of parts they contained. Now me being the slightly greedy type I am common sense would say "buy the one with the most parts" LOL ! I tried looking at a few websites, hondapartshouse ,partzilla ,to name a couple and all I got was a picture of the "label" . Since my "web" ability is through "Dial-Up" at a whopping 28.8kbps after what seems to be forever for a page to load I simply get a pic of a "label" and not even a list of parts in each kit I get frustrated >:( with searching. So I'm asking for the guidance of the SOHC Honda Collective in coming to my aid in finding what I need ! WHEWWW !!!

Anybody still awake , LOL?  Where do I find what I need ?                 ...cougar...

MoMo   I see one of the things I was doing wrong  ::) , I was looking for the Honda part #16010-333-004 which is for a single carb DOH !! Just proves that a different set of eyes/viewpoint will work wonders sometimes.   ...cougar...

PN 16010-333-004 is a crb gasket set. The genuine Honda set includes all gaskets to service one carb, not the entire rack of four.
The brass parts are under different PNs from Honda, there is no OEM "carb kit complete" available. Partzilla appears to sell the real McCoy.

Aftermarket carb kits, line the one linked above, have non-OEM brass parts that have often caused tuning problems because they are not identical to the Keihin ones. These kits have some gaskets but usually not the fuel tube/tee O-rings. The bowl gasket O-rings in some of these kits swell a lot when exposed to gasoline.

I would buy four Honda seal kits and possibly float valves. Unless your bike has quite high mileage (not normal for a 400F... rather buzzy for transcontinental trips) the brass parts will be fine - a thorough cleaning is all they should need.

I've used the kit I linked but never use the jets.  I've used the float needles and seat with no problems.

I thought this looked like a good kit if you need more than O rings.  About $88 USD plus ship
