Sixth gear....
« on: November 09, 2006, 08:31:05 PM »
Well, today was a record.  I think I tried to shift into sixth gear three or four times.  Maybe
I should change the sprocket ratio.  Oh come on...I know you've done it too!  ;D

yea... i know what you mean.  i'm always trying to get that last/nonexistant top gear... even on the 7r.

it will only do 158mph in top gear  ;D

anyway, can't wait to get the 400f together to experience an SOHC4 with a 6-er

Sounds like the Mustang GT that Steve MacQueen drives in Bullitt. That thing has 13 or more gears. ;D More upshifts than plate tectonics.

The little 50cc production racer of the 1950's had a 12 speed gearbox. If you stood by the main straight you would hear more gear shifts than MPH.

old mate, you're starting to repeat yourself, repeat yourself.  ;D

I must say though when I ride the wife's 400, I'm always looking for a 7th gear, and a sixth on my 750 - seems like we're never satisfied!

cheers
Peter.

So what gears are all of you 6&7 speeders runnin? If you get a smaller rear sprocket...you might not find the need to search for a non-existent gear! I went down to a 42 rear and it helped a bit on the freeway.

Hey, I'm in the mountains, there is really no reason I should want a sixth,
I just caught that shifter disease :)
