« on: April 02, 2016, 07:07:26 PM »
rebuilding the front forks on a 350f and its come time to put in the oil. got some 15 weight but ive heard that alot of people put a little more in then the shop manual or clymer manual calls for. anyone on here do that with their forks? btw stocks springs with a 120 lb rider. thanks

The manual calls for ATF which is under a 10wt as normally posted on most sites, since ATF isn't really rated as a weight like fork oil per se.
I wouldn't put more in than specd since you are putting in a heavier oil than what came stock from the factory.
You are also quite light weight wise, so I would stick to the stock levels/quantity the manual calls for in your rebuild.
I did a 350F last year and used ATF at the stock spec and I weigh about 185 and had no issues with the ride or handling of the bike.
Common sense.....isn't so common!

thanks (: i just remember seeing the viscosity of atf was too thin to be used in motorcycle forks and they only used it from the factory because there really wasnt much else at the time.
