« on: April 30, 2016, 10:58:51 AM »
I almost got my bike together and looking for suggestion how to set up my keihin CR29 carbs.

I run 810cc piston, portet head, Action Four SS-1 cam, 4 into 2 open exhaust.
Current setup on carbs, mains 120, yy-8 needle in 3 pos.

i use cr29s in an 810 kawasaki four, so guess setup is somewhat comparable...

130 mains, clip in 4th from top,

needle? never looked :)

but seriuosly, no setup is like the other,

so, best way to find the best main jet (that should be your starting point) is to do a few runs on the dyno till you find best power. needle height is more something you refine during riding.

I'm not a carb specialist as the other guys here....
I ran my carbs on Dyno and jets looked OK.  Mikuni TMR32
Dyno for full throttle did not cover street or cruising on the roads for an hour or 3. I had to jet pilot jets richer due to hesitation when taking off at start and low throttle lift as driving 70-90km/h on 4-5:th gear running hot.
- Dyno for full throttle + cruising on the streets to verify pilot jets and air /fuel screws. If you do not know.
KN Pod filters or velocity stacks?
I should jet as turboguzzi. Better to start too rich than too lean. If you have same setup of pods or stacks

I'm running KN pods, think I will start with the setup the carbs came with. I have a set of 130 mains i can swap to if the 120 are to lean. I'm still waiting on a new APE clutch. (Last thing before startup)
