Just to clarify - yes, the intakes for the carbs (which are not black rubber boots - they're stiffer material - plastic like) go into the upper rear section of the 'engine' case. A single screw and the case splits to reveal the air filter (apparantly).
Dead easy to work on - no cutting up your 750 frame to access the valve train

Allan head bolts everywhere from the factory.
Here are the rest of the pics. For those curious about $$$, it cost me $1,000 on top of my 550F sale.
As is always the case, the pictures look better than real life, but bottom line is the bike is clean and original. Only odd thing is the rear rim appears to be alloy, while the front rim looks exactly like my old 550's. Its a DID steel chrome rim. Not sure what the scoop is there. Perhaps something went wrong with the front rim some decades ago.
The bike was likely traded into the dealer back in the late 70's early 80's, which is where it sat till 2002. They freshened it up with NOS correct fuel lines (braided material of some form), fork seals etc.
Typical BMW engineering - twin petcocks - one per carb. But, there is a cross over fuel line that runs through the engine casing so if one side of your tank runs dry, the carb gets it's fuel from the other side

Single clutch plate - dry. Instant hook up. Great suspension too.
This was a kind of fateful buy. I noticed this guy's ad for the bike back in late September. Sent it to my brother who has an R75/7 for his opinion.
At the time, my bike was in peices in the middle of engine rebuild #2. Then shortly after rebuilding the engine, while not considering selling at all, someone makes me a very generous offer for the 550. I sell it (last Sunday). I then begin looking in earnest for it's replacement, and call the guy with this BMW. He makes me a generous offer well below his posted asking price. I went tonight (Thursday) and am picking the bike up Saturday.
Here are the pics - check out the tool kit

and the air pump (last pic). There's a drop-cloth for keeping drips off your marble garage floor as well - from BMW.
