CB750 ignition switch
« on: May 30, 2016, 03:17:57 AM »
Hi,

have three different ignition switches, all with roung plug.

I assume the one on the left (with "OFF" upside down) is (late) KO. Can you identify?

Doc, I love a motorcycle!

A true KO switch will be recessed at the key. Those appear to be for the K1.

Not all KO had the recessed ignition switch.

The three in my photos are different to each other:

left has "OFF" upside down
middle has "OFF" upright down, shorter thread and a different ring
right has "Ignition" instead of key number (= after market?)

Can you please check on your K1 and on your K3?
or anybody else with K1 -K6.

I always believed the one on the right to be aftermarket, I'm curious to see if that's true also. The locating washer with the tabs is a rare bird too.  my K4 might be original, i'll check it later this morning.

If you got a KO without the recessed then it's a real late KO built after they ran out of the recessed and started to put the K1 switch on. I will check mine for you and get back to you.

Maybe, but
IMHO the one in the middle is an original as well, at least has a genuine HONDA key and key number.

It may be a genuine Honda part but it's not K0-K1 era.

It's the apparent NXXXX (if I'm reading it correctly) code that makes me think it's at the very least a later '70's replacement.

I agree the right is likely aftermarket. The middle switch could be K2, they should all be round plug...

Middle is number N2738.

The one in the middle looks like this one:

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Honda-CB-750-Four-K0-K1-K2-Zundschloss-Original-35100-303-007-/322030553016?hash=item4afa8447b8:g:yXEAAOSwLVZV6C9k

I trust M. Döring (sandguss) that its a genuine HONDA switch 35100-303-007

But actually cant find 35100-303-007 in my parts book.....
Here K1, K2 should be 35100-313-003

Being more and more confused

That PN is obsolete and likely a combo code to consolidate part numbers.
In the late '70's and onward Honda would create codes for older parts that were essentially identical.
That switch could be used in a several different bikes, not just 750's.

For example PN 35010-303-003 was superseded by 35010-315-017 which is the current PN for a couple of dozen bikes prior to '71.

That -007 PN may have been the European number, same number later rev.

Lots of Honda's used that early round plug. Here is a list a guy compiled for his E-bay auction. Some of the 450 switches were even recessed and guys try to sell them as original sandcast to unsuspecting folks.  http://www.ebay.com/itm/Honda-NOS-CB750-750-Key-Ignition-Switch-175-125-350-450-35010-315-017-/221276238289?hash=item33851771d1:m:mu2JcofwJe3JgvI198rVvZQ&vxp=mtr

Thanks.

So this one looks as mine on the right.

So all of my switches seem to be genuine switches but I still do not know which one came with which 750.

I assume: (late ) K0 - K1- K2 from left to right
