Just restored a CB350F

Hello,

Just about finished restoration on this 1973 CB350F after 7 months and a complete tear down.  I didnt ask a lot of questions here but sure did "lurk" a lot. Thanks!

Very nice.

I have often thought of doing a complete tear down of my CB400F, but keeping track of every part must be hard.  I have rebuilt the carbs on the bike (in 1991 and 2022) but the number of parts, especially if one works on one carb at a time, is manageable.  So congratulations on a fine job!

WOW! What a fine job! Nice paint, too!
The 350F is my favorite. :)  :D
...I wish I was working on mine, I'm kinda busy with others right now... :(

I looked through your posts and see you didn't do a project  thread on the build nor a new members introduction. Where are you from?
I was over to a friend's house last night in NH and he has a red one also that he thinks is original with only 2300 miles on it. But I didn't get pictures of it unfortunately as I was busy looking at his new bike garage...... no pictures so it didn't happen....... but I'll get some Wednesday night at bike night.

New CB750 K5 Planet Blue, demise by ex cousin in law at 9,000 miles...
New CB750 K6 Anteres Red, to replace the totaled K5, I sold this K6 at 45k in 1983, I had heavily modified it, many great memories on it and have missed it greatly.....

Hello,
My name is Doug.
I'm in Central NJ.  I got this bike in December 2022 in decent shape from Philadelphia. 

I've done quite a few different bikes over the years. I learned a lot as always so I'm very happy to provide assistance if anyone else is working on a CB350F.
Here are some problems I had along the way....

Had a hard time getting the lower engine mount nut on one side off.  There is not enough space to get a wrench in there as it sits recessed in the engine.
I broke a few engine studs because they were weak and my torque wrench was out of calibration. Replaced with NOS.  I have a digital one now.
I got new bronze bushings for the swingarm but it ended up too tight and would not spin freely.  Ended up sourcing and very nice used swing arm unit and it turned out great.
I forgot to remove the right side engine mount bracket and lots of cursing ensued while installing the engine until I figured that out.

Other than that I find these fairly easy to work on----It started and ran well up front w/ no carb leaks etc. Every electrical component worked after re-wire which is a first for me.
I dislike the thin plastic headlight buckets.
I always promise Ill only order parts once or twice and then order about 10 times!
