First-time Honda owner
« on: July 20, 2016, 01:56:16 AM »
Hi everyone,

My Dad recently bought a '74 cb750 for $100, hoping my little brother would take it on as a project.  It had seized from sitting too long, and needed a full rebuild.  My brother never got into it, so I asked if I could have it.  I took it completely apart, down to just about every last nut and bolt.  I'm now preparing to do a proper engine rebuild, going part by part with attention to detail.

This will be my first complete rebuild of a motorcycle, so I expect I'll need plenty of help along the way.  I think this forum will be invaluable throughout the process.  I'm excited to join a community of so many knowledgeable Honda enthusiasts!

(Here's a picture of the bike before I tore it completely apart)

Sorry, I don't think I posted the picture right in my original post.  Here's the bike!

That paint is awesome.
Purchase Mark Paris' (Hondaman)book.  http://forums.sohc4.net/index.php/topic,65293.0.html

It will walk you through the whole rebuild, and is an invaluable resource for later on.

Thanks!

I followed Dino's Hackaweek '73 rebuild from start to finish, and I saw right away the value of having the shop manual, so I downloaded it.  Also ordered Mark's book a while ago, and I can tell it's going to be worth its weight in gold!
