New Delkevics are up, opinions?
« on: August 14, 2016, 12:05:40 PM »
So I'm still beating around on my 1978 cb750k and I see that Delkevic just put up 2 new models for 77-78. I know everyone's been saying that there is no re-jet required, and these two new models say the same in the description. I'm just wondering if there would be a difference between the two; one is like a kerker styled megaphone and the other is yoshimura styled straight. Do you guys think the yoshi styled would require a bit of jet fiddling?

Nice...  As far as jetting goes, It will depend on the baffling, If Delkavic says no jetting changes they must have quite a restricted baffle {quiet}, thats not a bad thing as its easier to modify a baffle for more flow than it is to make a more restrictive one... ;)

I believe the baffles to be 2 stage so you can make a little more noise/HP.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

I just ordered one for a 550 with the straight exhaust. Gonna see just how choked down it is with their baffle and then decide what to do.
I recently restored and sold a 77 cb750f, and am nearly finished with a (former basket case) cb750k5.  This is a place to share, learn and enjoy.  I am grateful to and for 99+% of this site's membership.

Nice, I'm actually hoping these turn out to be a nice smooth flowing exhaust, that's not god-awful-loud at the same time.

Chocked down is probably a bit harsh, I think "Legal" is the word you were looking for.... ;D

Legal schmeegal.  I like it when these bikes roar instead of whine.

Lol, "smooth and crispy" is the exhaust note most pleasing to me  ;D

Either way, I'm willing to bet that the straight through exhuast has a bit more growl than the megaphone.

If it does not need rejetting, you wont be gaining any power.

I'm not really concerned with that, I have a 78k so I've already bored the pilot jets one step up to get rid of stumble from idle. I'm currently running a Jardine style 4-2 with turnouts. They are just a bit loud and I'd like something more quiet and smooth, not looking to make a racer out of the bike. So avoiding any further rejetting is the key to me picking up one these sweet headers.
