1977 750F Headlight
« on: August 28, 2016, 05:23:02 AM »
Where do I find a upgrade to a 7 inch H-4 Headlight for my 1977 750F Supersport.
Is this the way to go for a "brighter" headlight?
Will the charging system on a 77 750F support a H-4 Headlight?

I have the same bike and have been running with one for a few years with no issues.

I do not have enough room in my headlight bucket to use one of the new LED bulbs because they stick out too far and you can't close it up.

A quick search on Amazon should turn up about 50 7" halogen conversions.

I put one on my Royal Enfield years ago (which I ordered from the Nfield Gear store) and the improvement was so huge it was like my previous headlight was a candle.

Not all H4's are the same.
Be sure your charging system can handle the 'bulb' draw, as it doesnt care which housing you choose  ::)
I ran a 35/35w H4 bulb for a short while, and it was quite an improvement over the stock sealed lamp.

I have the Candlepower conversion on my 75 CB750F. Big improvement. It's just a non-specific standard part. No part number. Box just states 7" H4 headlamp.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Any 7" H4 for the US market should fit into the holder.  (Japan and UK have a different focal pattern that blinds opposing traffic here)

I'm using a 55/60w bulb and have been for some time.  I read on this forum that the 77/78 handlebar switches can take the higher current and it seems to be true for me.

As long as they can see me I don't care! I use a Euro specific lens and 55-60W bulb on my daily rider with high beams on all the time. Haven't been pulled over yet and I haven't been flashed by anybody. It's bright but not annoyingly so.
