I just bought a 1973 Honda CB750 (now a 836cc) with a Keihin CR 31 Special carb. Previous owner had velocity stacks and I need to put an air filter on it. It will be a daily ride (weather permitting) in a windy and dusty area...Black Hills of South Dakota. I am looking at two different filters. K&N pods or an AIR INTAKE BOX that Cognito Moto makes at the following URL.

Called and the salesman measured the openings of the air filter box claiming 41mm over the ports - space between outside ports 35.5mm and inside ports 40.5mm.
The current velocity stacks seem to measure 49mm diameter fitting over the ports.
Anyone with the CR31 carb use either of these air filter options? If K&N's could you help me with which model # I need?
