front end swap on a 63 305
« on: December 05, 2006, 07:41:10 AM »
I have a 1963 ca77 305.  It is running and not stock.  someone did a kinda butchered job on it some years ago.  I am not putting it back to original.
my question is:

what newer front end will swap?  with normal looking shocks.

My 1971 350t has the same top of tree to center of hub at 28" but the 350t has 19" rims and the 305 with 16"

if anyone has any info that would be great.  thanx.

The CB350T front end might bolt right in. If I remember correct the stem diameters are the same, the only issue might be the stem length. I was looking into something similar on a CB77 and I am pretty sure that when I checked that the stems were the same so I am guessing that the CA77 would work also. Actually just found a pic I knew I had where a CB77 front end was swapped onto a CA77. The CB77 was an 18" wheel. I don't think you would run into major problems using a 19" wheel.  Looks like an 18" rear may have also been swapped in on that conversion. Not sure it was necessary. Wish I could get my hands on a tank like that.

wow thanks for the pics and the info.  that is very close to the look I was going for.  I just wish my ca77 looked like yours when I got it then I would not have to do anything to it.   I really like the look of the original 305.
So now I will probably be searching for a new front end.  thanks again hahnda  I really appreciate all the info!

I think its off a CB92, a race version of the little Benly. 125cc monster.  Last one I saw on Ebay with rubber tank pads went for over $1200.

Now that I look closer its not a cb92 tank on that CA77. Must be something custom that was made up. Looks good though.
