pistons, wrist pins, and con rods OH MY!
« on: April 06, 2017, 07:38:42 PM »
general question - something I noticed after tearing apart a few *different* engines.

should there be any discernable play on the piston/wrist pin/con rod joint?  aside from side to side?

the "runinwenparqued" 750triple motor has really firm feeling wrist pins compared to my cb550.

asking because rebuild, thanks

That sounds about right. Oil up the pins and they are a tightish fit.
As of today 3/13/2012 my original owner 75 CB750F has made it through 3 wives, er EX-wives. Free at last.  ;-)

Hondaman states if you have more than .004" clearance between wristpin & piston....they're toast!

Seems I need to get some of the narrow feeler guages.

I think you're joking, but I'd try a mic and a hole gauge.
