Topic: 550 fork lowers?

Here's yet another weirdness of the 75 cb550 I got from a guy. When putting my fork brace on I was forced to remove the fender because two objects can't occupy the same space. Looking over at my 77 550 with the same brace I noticed a large difference. This is when I got the tape measure out.










Well ain't that just a kick in the nuts. I never thought to measure them. I knew this front end was thrown together by someone as one of the dampeners was longer when I first took it apart and has since been replaced.

I don't know about 550s, but the '77/78 750K's had longer fork lowers than the earlier 750s.

Yes, I've run across this too.   I believe the late model K models had longer lowers.

true, the later ones are longer. i don't know when exactly they changed, but my 1976 550F has the shorter ones. if you want to install a forkbrace and keep the fender you need the later, longer for lowers. unless you get a brace made by t-kat. he made one for me, so he has now the measurements for the earlier ones.
