Copper washers under cylinder head nuts

 Thanks for answers to my previous question on green O rings.When I removed the cylinder head on my cb 400 I noticed the washers under the head  nuts are copper, are these original equipment, if so what are the technical advantages over normal steel washers

you know cuz copper turns green but, he didn't realize the washers were copper so he thought they were green rubber ... see?  haha? ;D

i understood the green washer/o ring from the copper,  I just didnt think it was funny
