The Big Eclipse of 2017!
« on: August 21, 2017, 02:50:14 PM »
So, did anyone use a magnifying glass to give themselves an eclipse tattoo?
I hear all the cool kids were doing it.  ;D

Seriously though, did anyone get any good photos?
I tried to get some but my crappy digital camera doesn't have a manual setting for exposure.
Sometimes I miss my old 35mm. (The one I still have that's been in the closet since about 1998.) ::)

^^^Ha Ha Ha------------------- Nothing too exciting here in Kalamazoo, Mi, got a little bit darker outside and my cereal box worked OK.

I wish I had gotten in on this soon, and made some loot on the eclipse googles.  Not to much to see where I was.

I was home sick today.........and slept through the whole thing! BFD!

If you were to take a mirror and catch the sunlight then project that on a wall you can see it perfectly fine, like a picture. We have done this with other eclipses, still pretty boring if you ask me.

It got pretty dark in Everett where I was.  Watching it was a tad boring - I've seen 2 already, but at the same time it was quite a spectacle of people.

The lighting from the eclipsed sun was eerie, more like what you see at 4 am than 10:30.

Note, auto darkening welding helmets don't always stay dark when viewing an eclipse  :P

I'm located in Oregon and it was pretty spectacular. Sorry no pictures. There was some really cool solar flairs when the sun was becoming more visible ;D

neat photos!  It looked like about 33% occlusion down here in Austin. It was noticeably dimmer outside.

We watched the coverage on TV. In Southern CA we got nothing. BUT I have to say, watching the event cross the Country, it secretly made me happy to know that deep down, regardless of affiliation, we are all just Pagans.

I got this unfiltered shot from Charleston, SC.  On my S7.  Was not able to get a total shot.  Pretty spectacular here, even true the clouds.
