Top and bottom half crankcase fitment
« on: September 03, 2017, 07:21:25 PM »
Something that I've done a few times and so far I haven't had any issues - except for this last time.

the top half of the crankcase from my experience generally has the transmission gears (clutch, output shaft, gearing) while the bottom half has the shifter, shifter drum, and forks.

When fitting the two shells together, is there a strategy for fitting the forks back into position or do they naturally go where you need to go?  Last time I did the fitment, one of the shifter forks popped out of the shift drum slot after everything was put back together and the bike test ridden.  That makes me wonder if there's a method to putting the shells back together or that the forks have a few positions they can adopt (and only one of those positions is correct).

When putting the shells together - how should you arrange the gears so that everything goes back together without a fuss?

700 - I'm assuming it's a downsized 750 DOHC, although nothing about that F'ing Nighthawk is usual.
