cb500 four transmission
« on: September 10, 2017, 04:35:58 AM »
Hi there!

Does someone perhaps know why the item marked with a red arrow in the attached photo keeps pushing outwards. When that happens the gear change mechanism gets trapped and gear shifting becomes almost impossible. Also, there is a loud klak..klak ..klak sound when running in second gear.

As I recall there is supposed to be either a halfmoon clip or more likely a sellotape that connect that shroud to the crankcase so it can't move sideways.

No idea what a (sellotape) is, in any language.
A steel tap or guide-pin is more accurate :)

Cheers

Its a blank plug that is between the gearbox needle roller bearing cap, the two halfs of the crankcase are supposed to keep it in there...pull it out, clean oil off and  seal with permatex ..let it dry overnight
