CB550 frame modification
«

Hello everyone. Any views on modifying the CB550 frame where the back bone meets the sub frame as per the pix attached?
It could well be an overkill and risky move but I'd like a clean and horizontal start for the upper part of the rear triangle instead of welding the new sub frame on a downward tube. Thanks in advance for any advice (beside the need to put my hands on a CB750 frame
).

Posts like this can just be put in the regular SOHC/4 Bikes board, you'll get more replies.
That said, you need to give a lot more detail on what it is you are planning to do. For instance, new subframe for what? Hard tail? Mono-shock?

Thanks. I realized that too late. It is for a Café Racer indeed. I'll keep the dual shock setup.
