CB500 four mfg year
« on: September 26, 2017, 08:12:12 AM »
Hi all!

Just bought my cb500 and i want to restore it. It is from 1975 with frame number 2076XXX
My problem is that frame vin plate is too damaged and i can't see the mfg year.
I believe production stopped around 1973 but papers says it's first registry is from 1975...
What do you have in yours?

Cheers

i have a 550 that shows as a 74.  My cb400f somehow is a 74 on the title even though 75 was the first year.  production date was 11/74 on my 400.  the joys of titles

I already saw somewhere that some places where in Europe don't have any k2.
Honda sold k1 frame numbers with k2 engines... Not sure why.
But that's my question. If it is from 1975 and it is k1, what is the mfg year that i should put?
Cheers!

I think the 500 Fours didn't get compliance plates till around '75 here, although my '71 CB450 hade a compliance plate  :-\

I know it's something normal.
My point is what is supposed to be written on the plate for the mfg year...

You mean '72. There are no '75 CB500's.  :)
I believe you are mistaken as the 500 was built sold in Europe beyond 1972.

My bad. I stand corrected.  :)
