1974 cb550k carb sync problems
« on: October 14, 2017, 06:18:42 PM »
Hi I'm trying to carb sync my bike but I am starting with a bench carb sync because they were so out of wack. I'm trying to bench sync but I feel I have ran into a problem. I cannot get my idle screws in the proper position with the slides low enough to allow idle screw adjustments. If I set the slides to the proper 1/8", the idle screw doesn't reach the stop. Im at a lost here. Any tips or leads on how I can get these synced. Also I measure with the drill bit on the filter side correct?

Thanks

+1: it doesn't get stated much clearer than that!
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

I followed the master's advice and it doesn't work with mine. I can't get any of the slides to hit the floor (still see the light). Also once the slides are that far down my idle screw can no longer reach the stop to allow for adjustments. Is there some other adjustment I am missing or something?

You can't tweak the individual slide position adjusters to move the slides down in the bore?
Have you read the Honda shop manual describing vacuum sync?

Are you adjusting these?
