Ha ha ha
I should have been specific
It’s long story, in short, needed to look at a bike for sale. Thought someone may be kind to do that

I made a huge mistake and sold my 1974 cb550k sometime ago. By chance a look alike bike (but not as clean as mine) came along for sale on Craigslist in east side area. Owner isn’t from this forum community and I wasn’t comfortable to send him money right away without seeing the bike.

I have negotiated with him and called it a deal. Just thought that if anyone in that area could have a look at it as a favour

It’s a running condition bike (according to him a daily rider) with two flaws;

1- bike fel in a parking lot (with cover on, strong wind blew cover and dropped it down) which brok front right blinker lens and caused a rash on housing. No other damage to tank etc.

2- right side of handle bar got hit and sits about an inch or so higher than left side.

Turn signal and possibly fork ear, can be sourced not sure about handlebar if it will have to replaced or can be balanced.

It’s just about 11k miles. He bought 2 years ago from original owner.

Old gas stains on sprocket cover, I’m sure those can be sanded and buffed to a nice sheen

Thanks

I don't think you'll regret that purchase.

Thanks
Bought it
A friend in Chicago is going to go pick it up. If I was even 3-4 hours, I would have gone but 13 hours that too with border in between was too much for me. It will sit in Chicago and I’ll go pick it up over a weekend.

All bikes I have bought so far, none was tested and ridden before buying but in this case I was being too cautious since this is my first buy on Craigslist

Hello everyone
1974 cb550k orange with about 10k miles, bought recently and its sitting at a friend’s place in Chicago area. Finding difficult to bring it down to Toronto. Was considering to sell it there.

Would appreciate if I can have idea on good price range. :(

I've imported a bike from the US before. You can only do so at the Lewiston, NY crossing and you need to notify them at least 72 hrs before the bike shows up for export at the border.

As long as the bike has a current US title it's a fairly straight forward process.  There's definitely a cost involved though. I think the RIV (Registery of Imported Vehicles) cost was $180 or so.

Thanks James
I too have brought bikes before and it’s really not a rocket science as you said actually there’s no RIV cost involved in older bikes. It’s due to some personal reasons that I’m unable to bring or down till March and I feel bad that I’m holding my friend’s garage
