Installing a full fairing on a Cb550K
« on: January 06, 2018, 09:00:20 AM »
I want to add a full fairing to my 550k ( http://gftpstore.com/Honda-CB350-Full-Fairing-HONFFB-HONFFB.htm ) and wonder how they attach top the frame.  Is there fabrication involved or does it connect to the frame at certain stock points on the frame? TIA

Don't kid yourself about having to do some (maybe) serious fabrication to get that fairing to mount up.  AirTech makes a generic mount, or they used to, otherwise you'll need to design, basically, a "Y" shaped mount that attaches to the steering neck, and then to the fairing between the headlight and handlebar cutouts.  It's also nice to fab some braces for the back of the windscreen because it'll flap in the breeze if you don't.  That type of fairing will almost certainly require the use of clip on handlebars.  Mounting the lower part to the frame isn't quite as difficult, but it is an air-cooled engine.  Some vents and maybe an oil cooler would help.  I've done what you're considering a couple of times, and it was challenging.
