..because we don't don't have enough oil threads... Repsol?
« on: January 13, 2018, 11:01:16 AM »
I found some Repsol oil in my local MC shop.
Anyone want to give opinions on this brand?  I see it sponsored in the moto GP races I watch.

I picked up enough for two oil changes.  Regular and semi synthetic.  Not gotten around to using it yet...

Cheers,

Does it have any ratings on it, like JASO, or SF. or something?

Yes, there was a JASO rating.  It's one reason why I bought it.  Can't remember which rating it had, though.   It did say it was formulated for motorcycles.

I hauled it to AZ already.  Wish I was there...

I thought our european members might have some experience.  I think its an Spanish company.

It most likely will look good on the shelf, next to the REPSOL GP race picture... I always liked those Repsol Honda's!! Although he CBR250 Repsol was a real dog lol, it couldn't keep up with anyone at the track, and that was after having some 'engine' work done to it.
As far as good oil, I would use it in my Honda VTR250 interceptor!

Repsol's site has a few specs on their motorcycle oils along with the usual marketing hyperbole -

I did look at the site, Greg.  I was surprised to see Orange bottles.  All the ones I bought are Blue bottles.  Aside from the JASO MA2 rating, they also add hyperbole to the blend, as you noticed.  What could go wrong?

I'm worried it will make my bike too fast...

...that hyperbole is some slick stuff! It can sell snake oil, which I have read some people prefer, so it has to add a few horsepower!
