I know that this subject was brought before, but even though i spent a lot of time looking for an answer, i was not able to found one. What is your 0 - 60 mph time ? for CB 750 owners

it is really personal...i'm really wondering what is the average time a cb 750 is achieving this. I know that it cannot be compared to today sportbikes. I'm into vintage bikes because they have something special. Having this benchmark in my head provides me with more info on these bikes.

Get on your bike and time yourself. Or go to a drag strip and see what you can come up with. What it was 40 years ago is hardly relevant now. Do a 3000 mile check up and get some times as a baseline.

Yes, but they would be extremely skewed compared to yours .... especially in this forum!

I'm not judging, but even if they post up time's your not going to be comparing apples to apples. Now if you have kitted up the bike or even plan on it this would be the place to post it and ask for advice. If you have numbers in mind they could suggest what path you need.

Probably the 4 sec range for a good strong stocker, with good rider. Tough to get them in the 12 second range.
Unless you have dragraced a lot before, don't be surprised if you cant match that..
Now 60 ft times there are a few on here, at the 1.5 Mark or just under.. but those are 10 second bikes..

Other than road racers on this site, i'm not certain who at this point measures performance of our older bikes in 0-60 second times. I can offer you a view of one of my quicker drag  strip time slips but it only references 60' and other incrementals. We're mainly concerned about 1/8's mile and 1/4 mile times since those number are easier to compare to other bikes set up in similar fashion. That 10.34 passs is not my normal ET. I dial slower for consistency sake.

yeah, 0-60 mph times are not really that pertinent to the motorcycle world, more of a car thing.  As in drag racing, a really good 0-60 time requires a rider that knows how to launch the bike.  This is really hard to do, especially on a cb750 that has healthy power but not much down low in the rpm range.

It's been a few years since I have been to the drag strip.  Last time I went it was a bike only special event that was more of a Harley rally than a serious race.  I just went because it was $20 to race all day and  few were racing so I got as many runs as I could stand, which was LOTS!  My first run was in the high 14's, by the end of the day I was in the high 13's but I never really had any even half respectable reaction times.  My bike was not set up for drag racing at all, more of a back roads blaster...stripped down to about 470 pounds, k5 with fairly worn out k8 engine with 17 front/46 tooth rear sprocket, hitting 90-95 mph in the quarter...The bike held up awesome!  I was basically taking a run, grab timeslip, cruise on back, take another run with no wait staging for about 2 hours straight.  So Much Fun

Even I should have known better than to make that statement, oh boy. Yeap, lap time only. So I'll retract my statement and say I don't know of any motorcycle racers that pay attention to 0-60 mph times.

Ha!  They're both slow, relatively speaking. The wife's 370Z is prolly faster than both.

The 836 is prolly quicker but the Vette is faster [and a pig at over 3700 lbs]...

I don't know about a place, but researching I found some google apps that do it via gps. No idea how accurate though.

0-60 is not as interesting as 60-120 :-)
Or more useful during normal riding 70-170 kph (43-105 mph).
from 0-60 is more about the riders skill how to take off and shift than the bikes power.

There are apps you can download to your smartphone to allow you to test quite a bit of stuff, including 0-60mph, 1/4 mile, etc.  Just open the app and find a stretch of quiet road.  Repeat/practice as needed to get best results.

You could always get organized and have a bunch of members get the same app for consistency and test their own bikes and share the results in a thread.  Instant bragging rights, just don’t upload the results from your modern crotch rocket and pass it off as your old CB😏...😁

Regarding road racers, 0-60 is important to a limited degree, as in limited to the start of the race and any restart.  They are all standing start races, so the better the holeshot(functionally a 0-60 test) the better position you put yourself in at the first turn.  It’s basically a straight up drag race start with up to a dozen or more other bikes per group staggered in position going off at the same time fighting for position at the first turn. It can make a big difference in a competitive class as a worse than usual holeshot can put you several bikes lower in position at turn 1 than a decent or stellar one.  Fighting to get to the front while trying to get around other bikes isn’t the best position to find yourself in. Road racers just don’t generally measure their holeshot performance in 0-60 terms.

Ok, that said, Frankie (Dragracer) offered a really good example for your question.

The time slip he offered showed both his very fast dragbike(10.3@121mph) AND the numbers for the guy next to him that just so happens to be a fairly average performance for a mid 70s dead stock CB750(14.2 @ 94mph in the 1/4).  So you can get a feel for both ends of the spectrum.

I put in the 1/8mile ET and mph into the calculator for each bike.

9.08 seconds and 78.4mph(14.2 seconds and 94mph 1/4) for the rough equivelant for a stock mid 70s cb750 came out to a 5.32 second 0-60mph time.

6.41 seconds and 103.6mph(10.3 seconds and 121mph 1/4) for Frankie’s 100hp plus big bore dragbike came out to a 2.15 second 0-60mph time😬

These calculators can never be perfectly accurate for obvious reasons, but should be plenty close enough for your needs.

 But the test equip magazines used was probably quite sophisticated for the time.

 Just fun facts and a chance to brag a little. My daughters drag car goes zero to sixty in around one second, covers 60 feet in 1.1 seconds. 1800 lbs and around a thousand hp.
 
That's 1.8 lbs per hp a healthy 750 is around 5 lbs per hp oops, plus rider. 
 
Our jr dragster with a briggs and Stratton ran the same 1/8 mile ET as a 455 GTO. The owner was flabbergasted until I explained we weighed 300 lbs and had 30 hp, his car weighed 4,000 lbs and had 400 hp.  the same power to weight ratio.

I happen to be driving a 2018 Ford Mustang GT this week. Inside the instrument panel software is a tab for Track settings with 0-30, 0-60, 0-100, 1/8th mile, 1/4 mile times. I would expect other modern enthusiast vehicles would be fitted with this.
 I won't be using any of this software, but the Car and Drive review says 0-60 in 4.3s, 1/4 mile in 12.6s @ 115mph.

I had a 2017 Mustang convertible rental when my wife's 370Z was in the body shop, the 'stang was a dog compared to the Z.  The Z has 332 HP and does 0-60 in 4.9.

Stev-o, the 2018 Mustang GT has a 5.0L 460hp 420ft/lb with 10 speed auto. I’m not in any way qualified to compare it to it’s peers, and I won’t be pushing it to collect any 0-60 times. But the sound..... the SOUND that comes out of it, even when hauling groceries, is luscious.

That is not the Mustang that I drove, unfortunately.  The convertible had the lowly V6...305hp and I just read that motor has been discontinued.  No loss in my book...

I have ridden a Kawasaki Concours with selectable riding modes and read about the same on Ducati but never seen or heard of a programmable instrument panel with options.

So it seems Ford has incorporated gschulds $12.99 DLFusion app, or something similar, into the new $50000 Mustang.
