new(er) carbs on the way
« on: January 11, 2007, 10:26:31 PM »
Just picked up a set of "HOPEFULLY" 76 550 F/SS carbs on ebayer.  Seller said they were from a 76' 550 F model but couldn't find the stamp on the carb bodies.

Anyway, got a very good deal and they are complete.  The reason for the purchase is so I can basically learn about carbs and stop being a sally when it comes to them.  They will be completely torn down and rebuilt.  Hopefully when thats all done I'll at least know what I'm looking at :)

Just thought I'd share my winter learning project.  Who knows, I may and probably will put them on the bike when done.

Theres a model stamp on the Piston Barrels. With that number, plus knowing your jet sizes, im sure someone can confirm they are 550 SS carbs. The F and K models used different jets, Needle tapers and Clip positions.
