I'm not saying nothing without my lawyer present..................  :P ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I have the Nolan flip face too, and love it.  I wear glasses, and having the flip face makes all the difference vs. trying to shove these super-bendy titanium hingeless frames between my helmet and melon.  Makes getting fuel and the odd quick road-side snack a little more convenient too.  I always feel like I'm about to rob the gas station when I walk in wearing the full face :)

I'm in the market for a helmet for my wife, who is also my daughter's mother so she's getting a full face even though she rides a 49cc Yamaha Vino.

Those Nolan's are made in Italy too, just like Agostini and Pasolini were, how's that for a coincidence? It's like karma, I tells ya! ;D

Here's a friend being carted away in the meat wagon.

Last three of his helmets have done thier Job.

One bell, two Nolans. The chin bar did its job in every instance it was seriously scraped up and damaged.

Wear a full face.

Vespa Soho in Manhattan, NY is a huge dealer for David helmets and carries a lot in stock. I should know I used to work for them.

I will say that the pudding bowl helmet is nice for the occasional sunday ride, but they are not DOT helmets and I would not trust them to protect you in an accident. For the vintage look, a Davida Jet classic 3/4 helmet is a good alternative, DOT legal and you can even get the hailwood and ago replicas in it (I ride with the hailwood 3/4). Not as protective as a full face helmet but if you are insistent on having your face in the wind, the rest of your gray matter is protected.

I must be doing this wrong...I can't find any US dealer for these helmets...What is the proper name for these "pudding bowl" helmets?? The half helmets with leather neck & ear flaps?? The "vintage" look...

Dennis Kirk doesn't show the M2R vintage helmet any more...either online or their paper catalog...eBay shows the two I've posted pics of...and a Buco or Vespa...but that's all...

If I search for "half helmet" or "vintage", all I get is Harley crap...  >:(

I really wouldn't go through their website. I don't think anybody is really paying attention to it.

Next time you are physically in New York City, it is the place to stop by. You can call them and ask for sales and you can pick their brain about it.

With any vintage helmet, you should know what it is made out of. The Davida Pudding bowl style helmets use cork instead of styrafoam as the crash barrier (just like the old helmets did). The problem with a cork lined helmet is that it turns what would be a localized skull fracture into a road map lookalike of fractures because of reverberation.

You may want to read this article b/4 making a high dollar Snell rated buy or purchase any helmet for that matter. Get out $79.95 for highest rated protection where it counts! :)

I have this exact helmet in Red. The website says they are DOT and it comes with the sticker.
However I was pulled over by a cop that informed me its is NOT DOT.

So beware...

There's been a guy ride by my house every morning at 6:00am on a Harley [loud muffler/straight pipes?] for five years wearing a helmet with two cow horns on it...   ::)

I doubt if the local LEO will bother me about this kind of helmet...   ;D

Anyway, it's an equipment violation - no points...   ;)

I have indeed ordered the JP Landpilot helmet that I linked earlier -

Nothing further to add, at this time...If I learn anything, I'll post...   :)

Well!!! The helmet arrived today!!!   :o

And it was immediately obvious why the shipping was ~$30...It came International Express Mail...   :P

It is quite nice! I got the cream w/orange stripes; size L. Same as pic linked above. It fits quite snugly; as someone commented, it's like they molded my head...   ;D

The helmet fits fairly low down on my head, almost to my eyebrows...   ::)  There's no way the included goggles would work for me. Although they are quite nice also. Just no room between the goggle top and the helmet rim.

The helmet has a thin chrome strip around the edge; full ear flaps (no holes); a goggle retainer in the back of the helmet (with snap); the chin strap has both "D" rings and a seatbelt-type quick-release snap. There is a sticker on the back that says "DOT" with "Fiberglass" underneath. The inside has a sort of plaid cloth and black fishnet that covers the polystyrene padding. The earflaps are not removable (like some others).

I'd say it is worth the money...Fits good, looks vintage, seems quality made...

Can't beat that!  ;)

Thanks for the report!  I think I'm going to have to try one myself.  I tried on a similar type helmet at a local store this past weekend and it looked like a huge salad bowl on top of my head, so I'm hoping these don't look so bulbous!   :D

I think the goggles that come with these helmets and are pure novelty items (not that the helmet is all that safe), but a rock shattering on of those lenes while you're wearing them, probably wouldn't be good.

Thanks again!
