1971 CB 750 K1 Kickstand mount
« on: March 12, 2018, 07:59:37 AM »
Hi,

I am about to get my 1971 frame powder coated.  I am questioning whether the kickstand mount is correct on it.  I have include a picture of  the 71 (right) with a section of a 70 to the left of it.  The 71 has two holes that I am not sure about, and a large "hat" at the top of the spring holder that the 70 example does not have.  Can anyone tell me, or include pics or what is correct?

Thanks

Larry

Larry the one without the "hat" is correct. The other it appears the stud which the top of the kickstand spring mounts to was broke off. The previous owner welded a new stud on there. The hat part looks like he did that to keep the spring from sliding off. I will get you some pics of mine when I get back home this afternoon.

Thanks.  I appreciate that.  I would like to make it right, and then get on with it.

The first pic is of my KO and the second is the K1. Neither one has a second hole. I wonder if the previous owner drilled that second hole to hook the spring when the post broke off? You could always fill the second hole before paint. Notice the top of each post has a lip around it to keep the spring from coming off. That looks like the reason the "hat" was put on there. There is also a second lip to keep the spring from traveling down the post. You can see it on the pics.
