been a long road
« on: March 25, 2018, 07:01:51 PM »
been a long road on this one, a 73 CB750, Ive lovingly named her Patina Dirtbag,
pulls hard, feels great.

got this from someones backyard where it sat for 15+ years.  the PO treated it like a burnout machine
and royally screwed it up.

replaced the cut up wiring harness.
hm swingarm rebuild
bored up to 1st oversize pistons, pins and rings in.
new jugs.
taped steering bearings
replaced the cracked clutch pressure plate.
replaced the 9 clutch plates with the correct number and type.
replaced the 2nd transmission gear.
replaced the drum shifter
replaced a shift fork.
new gaskets and seals.
new front 17 tooth sprocket
new chain
scraped the 16 inch wheel for a 78 K8 17 rear wheel and hub (until i get an 18)
tossed out the weird chopper seat
rebuilt a rusty seat pan and recovered the seat.
cleaned and painted the tank, (rattle can job)
rebuilt the front caliper and replaced the master cylinder with aftermarket.
replaced the switches.
put turn signals back on
replaced the broken gas tank latch
replaced the gas tank cap gasket
replaced the petcock
carb work etc.
new condensers
new 5k ohm plug caps, plug wires clipped back
of course the usual oil change stuff.

left to do:
flasher relay
side cover emblems
tank strips
right hand mirror
tires.
new suspension.

hell yeah!  That is what I like to see!  ...fix the bad stuff and get 'em on the road

haha, you are missing the same Kerker emblem I am.  I can't find one anywhere!
If it works good, it looks good...

agreed sean, this thing went through a few renditions, had some clip ons for a while, but ill be damned those things are not comfortable, i like the set up now tho.  just a little bit more fine tuning to go and this will be a good rider.
