valve cover oring
« on: April 01, 2018, 12:35:10 PM »
Just thought I'd post a crappy experience I had in case it helped someone down the road.  After a recent rebuild, I had a small oil leak out of my top end.  Turned out that the o-ring under the valve cover was just outside the groove at one spot.  During disassembly to fix the issue, I cracked all of the valve cover screws loose and then started removing them from the inside out.  The o-ring issue was on the outside next to one of the last screws I removed.  The pressure of the o-ring pushing up on the valve cover was enough to crack the cover.  Totally crappy.  But it was just a little corner.  Welded back together and hopefully good to go with a new seal.  Just a warning to anyone who cares to read.  Am I the first this has happened to?
