750 K7 Choke issues... Again
« on: April 04, 2018, 11:41:37 AM »
I'm on my third choke cable and plunger for my K7.  No matter what I do I can not get the damn thing to just stay in place.  Bike runs great once warm but it likes the choke on when warming up/ first few miles. I've tried bending the cable a bit to stay in place but no luck.  Really frustrating to try and constantly pull it up.  Any solution or relocation?

Did you tighten it down?

not a proper solution but try putting a clothes peg around the metal shaft when you pull it up so that the knob can't slide all the way back down, once its warmed up just pull the peg off and pop it in your pocket (or clip it to the mirror stem so you know where it is next time)
i blame Terry

Same here, pull out and twist locks it. the knurled plastic cap around the shaft is supposed to grip it harder if it's done up tighter, but being plastic, mine cracked. Now I twist.

I've tightened the plastic things many times to no avail.  Doesn't do much.  I will try the turning method but IIRC i've tried to do it but I can't pull it up far enough.

I can lock mine in any position, don't have to pull it right out. I can only just pull it out far enough for the shaft to clear the socket. When it cleared I gave it a full  turn and reinserted into the socket. It seemed to give it just enough "twisting spring" to help it jam in the socket when released. Mine has a "D" profile shaft, I think they all do.

edit; I turned it one full turn and reinserted it ..
