SACRILAGE

Well, I'm certainly a heretic.  I think my SR500 is one cool little bike.  The Honda's my daily ride, but I just can't give up the SR thumper.

Speaking of which, here's a heresy for you:  I may be offered a trade.  My SR500 for a 550Four.  Mine runs and needs nothing.  The Honda will need lots of cleaning and fixing up (at least it already runs).  Been out in someone's backyard.  The heresy is, I didn't immediatley say yes.  Have to think on it a bit...

Waddaya say to that, Tom?  Hmmm?   :D

Well mate, I say keep the Yam, I had an XT500 back in the 1980's, it was a magnificent bike, I can't remember if I ever changed the front tire, it was never on the ground long enough to wear, ha ha! It was like me, a big tough reliable lump with no real vices, although using the decompressor on a dark rainy night was always a worry, ha ha!

You've already got an SOHC4, so keep the Yam, I reckon! (says me with 5 CB750's in my garage, ha ha!) Keep the Yam! ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Hey Terry, I watch Mad Max on tv last night. Are your roads that smooth over there?

G'Day Mate, well most of the "post-apocalyptic" scenes in that movie were filmed around Broken Hill and it's fairly flat, desolate country, but the roads are for the most-part pretty good in Oz due to the use of big trucks to transport stuff all over this huge lump of land.

I've ridden most of the Eastern side, and have driven pretty much everywhere else in Army convoys, the cops are pretty bad though, and if you get caught speeding, it's gonna cost you, big time.

The national highway speed-limit varies between 100 and 110 KPH (60 - 70 MPH) although in the Oz version of the "Wild West" (Northern Territory) there was no speed limits until the 1st of January this year, but I believe now it's been capped at 130 KPH, or 80 MPH. Certainly a fantastic place to ride bikes like ours. Cheers, Terry. ;D

Yes, I see the cops are pretty badass in that county!! Don't mess with them, they will cuff you to a burning car and hand you a hacksaw!!!! :D :D :D :D When I was a kid those were my favorite movies, but now they seem so cheesy, but I still love them!!! But mostly kawi's ??? quess they didn't want to waste their good bikes? ;D
damn.. 60mph?? I think I can push my bike that fast! ;D The interstate here in Kansas ( the land of OZ ) has a speed limit of 70mph but the highway patrol don't stop you unless your doing over 80. I've been real lucky so far, my bike runs best between 90-110! ;D

Well, I won't give it up too easily.  The SR500 is such a solid, basic bike.  Requires little input, and gives back a whole lot of good riding.  I do the decompressor mostly by feel, with no problem.  And I kind of like having a bike that you have to kick to start.

You've got a nice group of SR fans down there.  Quite a few Aussies on the SR500 forum.   I'm really impressed with the cafe builds they do with this bike.
