non bike stuff but old cars with fake woodgrain dash?i cant seem to find a process or place that re does this?mine is way old and deserves a refreshen,the facia is easy to remove and quite flat,the old stuff I can remove ok with a hair dryer im thinking,the old stuff is quite thick like 1mm,im hoping theres an easy obvious thing that's done now?this fake walnut burl looked great years ago,like 45 years ago!its peeling and buckling and losing its colour,its done well for the years!

thanks for the link calj,i already seen that,maybe I better put im in Australia?looks like what I need though so long as its durable?this factory stuff has been like 45 years now,i don't wanna peel off the factory stuff for short lived flimsy #$%* though,boy am I a tough customer!

thanks calj,and whynot2 I just never bought another car?i just loved the hq series holdens as a kid,its a great old car and my daily driven one for all these years,i think about 35 years?i just stuck with this same old car,its a 312 cube(overbored 308)v8,itll easy do 14 over the 1/4 no #$%*!i like shaming #$%*s in euro cars who don't know what the #$%* it is,ya never see em on the road much now?its got an erson cam and electronic ignition,sorted qjet on edelbrock etc,tuned pipes etc,beefed up trimatic trans you guys might call a turbo 180?they made 485,000 of these things in various guises like pick ups and wagons etc and Ive only seen mine in the last few months on the road?in the day if you ticked the right box you got the 350 cube small block chevy option,holden had chevy options for years before hand,the 307 and 327 was a tick box on many earlier models aswell,we love chevies down under!

Looks a lot like a chevelle knock off. Funny that the windshield wipers are set up for left hand drive car.

My 1972 MGB-GT. The first picture is around 2013, the 2nd is basically it's current state. I started a sill replacement job in the fall of 2014, I finished the driver's side but only got as far as rust removal on the passenger when I paused. Then I got distracted by motorcycles again.

I plan to get back to it later this summer when I have finished the 750 financed in part by the sale of my 550.

I’ve always liked the MG and the early-mid 70’s TR6. Even today they are nice looking sports cars which still turn the heads of admirers and command a pretty penny for ownership.

Dave, no idea what to do with your woodgrain, realistically.  I have thought of getting some real wood veneer and contact cementing on with a rubbed on oil or wax finish, but I would be surprised if it looked or lasted anything like the original.  But your woes remind me of my buddie's '60 Oldsmobile.  This thing has the 20180602_211959 by Sean Barney, on Flickrmost beautiful gauges and dashboard, all chrome and glass...that's my #$%*ty '78 chevy parked up behind.  I traded a cb750 for that a few years ago and it's been a pretty solid hauler.

I have always wanted one of these though, what a marvelous novelty it would be to use it as intended, so when I happened upon it, had to get a pic.  I have only ever seen one other in real life.  I will see if anybody else knows what it is and can explain why it is so odd looking.

Because it's a boat with wheels. I have seen video of them driving down a boat launch ramp and cruising right out into a lake. It's a 1950's or early 60's thing.

My 2001 Toyota Corolla does not have any woodgrain finishes anywhere, but this thread is starting to give me ideas. A dangerous thing.

A roommate had an MG GT like Danny's. It was a sweet ride, as long as you didn't get stuck riding in the back.

There are several MG's, Triumph's and Austin 2000's in the area (Tourists mostly) and every time I see one it reminds me of my first car, a Triumph TR3
that my father had crushed. Long story for another post. It also did not have woodgrain anywhere.

That is a nice ride. It does remind me of a Chevy Chevelle. The Windshield wipers here in the US sweep from right to left in front of the driver.  You could use a veneer on the dash, but it would take some fancy cutting. That car on the outside we would call "mint" in condition. It is a keeper.
