Which SOHC Honda is this from?
« on: August 27, 2018, 10:52:38 PM »
G'day punters. Can anyone help me with the origin of this part?
The back story to it and how/why I came to have it is way too long to tell here, but given the history of the other parts it came with, which were almost all for CB750 K's and other Honda SOHC's I'm thinking it too must be off one of Honda's products.
But look as I may I just can't find anything.
It looks a lot like a CM450 but the speedo retainer screw is on the wrong side
Can anyone help?
Any useful information is gratefully accepted.

I could be wrong, but I think all Hondas had a separate speedo drive from the hub. Unless it is a very early or rare part, but I don't think so.

Did a google image search and got
"Machine is a 2017 Indian Hindi romantic thriller film, directed by Abbas–Mustan. The film stars debutant Mustafa Burmawala and Kiara Advani in the lead roles"
Looks very similar to a twin leading shoe front wheel I have, mines meant to be a 350 twin.
Not able to access it for a day but good luck. What are the dimensions of hub and wheel rim ?

If it's a Honda part it may be from a CB350 before they got disc brakes? There are other possibilities from the same era but most Honda front wheels did not have integrated speedo drives. I couldn't find a really good pic of a CB350 front wheel showing the left side.
Could also be a Suzuki X6 or similar, there were a lot of 36 spoke bikes in the 60s with DLS front brakes. Kawasaki, Suzuki, and Yamaha all had an integral speedo drive on some models at least.

Close to 100% positive it is a front hub from a cb or cl 160 twin.

Agreed. Not  from a H1.

From your suggestion, carnivorous chicken, I found this -> https://i.pinimg.com/originals/91/95/e7/9195e77c249e7462c2182b62362a8ef3.jpg
which says it's a 1968 Honda CL175 K0 175cc w/5 spd transmission.

I'd say the hunt is over!

Thanks to everyone that pitched in  :D

My brother has one similar, now I may have a clue what it is. He was a Kawi wrench and a Honda parts guy for a while so anything is possible with his.
