hello, just here to introduce myself.
my first "real" bike was a 78 cb400a. i knew nothing, i didnt care to know anything, and ultimately it ended up sitting in my driveway until my then wife made me sell it. I've never quite forgiven myself for that, and someday i will find another orange 78 hondamatic. its a mission of mine.
anyway i went years without riding after that until a few years ago i decided that i should buy a dilapidated 82 cb650sc and see what i could do with it. i had no tools, no knowledge, and no friends with either tools, or knowledge. so i read... alot. i spent alot of money on tools, alot of time in the garage, i watched a million youtube videos, i read about a gazillion pages about everything from how an engine works, to how to weld, and how to this and how to that... and i ended up with something that i loved.
so i bought an even more dilapidated 75gl1000. i tore it all the way down and eventually realized that this non titled bike was neglected enough that it would never be worth the trouble i was putting into it and i would be better off with a better donor....
so then i bought a 78 gl1000. it was in pretty good shape, i did a few upgrades, and rode the #$%* out of it.
so i started shopping for my next project... i wanted a chopper... and in my search for a frame i found a nearly completed 78 cb750 chop! what luck. the original builder was a good guy, and i bought that bike... and i rode the #$%* out of that. its slated for a few tweaks and upgrades this winter i think.
finally i got my little brother into riding too! he rode the cb650sc... then he rode the gl1000... then he wanted his own bike. so we went on the hunt for another one and eventually we found a 77 cb750k on craigslist. the owner couldnt quite get it to run, said that there was something wrong with the carbs he thought, and the electrical had seen better days because he couldnt get the turn signals to work... and he just didnt have the time or money or skills to fix it. $400. so i got that for my brother, and assured him that this was the perfect bike for him, and i could make it run. and i did. a carb rebuild with just a handful of gaskets and a float, and then a turn signal relay and some soldering and wire tracing later... it works! and man its strong. great buy.
long story short, i find myself to be vintage honda obsessed, and i have learned alot from this forum over the years, and hope to take some of the meager knowledge and experienced i have gleaned and share it with people who are where i was just a few years ago
