Is it possible to do a rebuild on the top end,  piston rings included without  taking the complete engine out of the frame?

Having just recently completed an engine rebuild on my 750A, "DTW" is right!

Head can come off with engine in frame, but cylinders cannot.  Engine must be removed from the frame in order to remove cylinders.

Engine can be removed by laying the engine/frame on its' side method or "HackaWeek method" (on YouTube) can be utilized.  I tried the "HackaWeek method" and it was easy.
One 2 x 4 and two strong neighbors!

Hope this helps!

I suspect you are correct that removal of studs after head removal would allow cylinder removal with the bottom half still bolted in.

Since I was going for a "bare frame" in order to powder coat the frame, removal of the engine was required in my case.

With top end rebuild completed, it's time to line up the 2 strong neighbors and begin planning for engine re-installation.
