I am being told, the camshaft from a 1977 CB750K OEM R2 will not fit a 77 750 hondamatic, is this true?

Not at all.

They will all interchange. A 77 K should give you a nice boost. The 77/78 F is the best. A 75/76 F is next along with the 77/78 K and then there is the first K cam which you may not be able to accurately ID. Oh, and forget the R2 stuff because it has nothing to do with any cam grind.

Yep, I've been running a 750K cam in my A for years and it runs fine.

Devon, why do you want a different camshaft?
If you are looking for a bit more power, go for the DP259 cam from Dynoman Performance.
Any CB750 cam will fit including the race cams but I found the DP259 by far the best for all round performance.

Hi Paul, did you just go cam only and stick with the stock bub carbs...???

Was thinking of a K7 head cam and carbs (possibly 836 pistons as well) and the and fit the electric solenoid to the K 7 carbs ...???

In two minds though, sorta happy with the stock set up , but have to put it into low to get cracking, if it went the K7 way was thinking I could just leave it in drive all the time, new to this , bit stung modding stuff and just ends in tears ... :-\ :-\ :-\

vik... thanks...

When I got my A, the cam journals were scored from oil starvation. I got a good deal on a used cam, cylinders and pistons, so replaced all of them. The carbs are stock. It's not a power house, but it has plenty of power to drag my 250 pound butt up the mountains.

So Paul, did ya look into the starvation problem ..?  Did ya do the Hondaman trick of not putting back the pair of 5 mm bolts that stop that rod from turning or doing what ever it wants, and drill the extra pair of holes...

Tempting, took mine apart and there is wear marks in the one spot cause it (the rod) cant turn, some say yea some say no .? bit more noise, I’ friggin deaf anyway so might give it a shot...

Yeah, the oil problem was caused by very poor maintenance by the po. The oil control orifice on the right side was plugged and the oil was very dirty and low when I got it. I cleaned the orifices, removed and cleaned out the pan, and replaced all necessary seals and gaskets. I didn't do any other modifications and that was quite a few miles ago.
