Small Honda Powered Replica Motorcycle
« on: February 08, 2019, 11:50:38 AM »
Here’s a cool old/new Honda. It’s a Black Douglas Sterling. Brand new replica bike, built in Italy, to exacting, modern standards. Powered by a HONDA cg125 or 250. They’re not certified for sale in North America so a friend brought in boxes of parts and we built a few here! Perfect copy of a 1918 Douglas. Looks a hundred years old, but totally modern, LED lights and electric start. Totally useless, but huge fun. The sidecars we built are copies of a W.W.1 Douglas rig. The originals were marine ply. We went with steel.

They are a hoot! The side car rigs belong to the 4th Canadian Mounted Regiment (dispatch riders in W.W.1). They use them for parades and other events. I put almost 1000 miles on the single motorcycle, last summer. After running in, it will cruise nicely at 50mph. The brake hubs are also from a new cg125 Honda, laced to 21” wheels. All works just as it should! Here’s a photo of the original: 1918 Douglas.

Could that be a Janus motorcycle made in the USA?   I saw the web site a few weeks ago.  One model looked similar to the one above and using the same engine they had a cool looking café racer.  Made to order and street legal.

I think 6 or 7 k was the price.  Also many options to select, too.

JANUS is a USA bike. These are produced in Italy. Search Black Dougla or Sterling Motorcycle.
