In catalogue it appears ask K limited edition

yep, i know, it's the first place it shows up in a honda parts fiche...and the middle number is for the 79......weird......and then, here's this. This is a picture from the honda motorcycle identification guide for the 77 K.. You can see the three bolts for this bracket.......All the other pics in this guide, for the other years, that show the left side shows the one bolt through the boss.....yet, you can't order this bracket....but there it is.......in honda's own publication.......what a mystery....

When looking at the parts, it appears that Honda might have run out of the castings that were welded to the frame for that LH bracket, so they added the bungs thru the frame and made some quick-and-dirty brackets!

That is the best guess/answer I’ve heard! Too bad they didn’t use it on all the SOHC machines. Removing the bracket allows for a slight tip forward and makes engine removal and installation just a bit easier. Plus, it’s a well engineered and great looking solution......

Both of my K7s have the bolted on bracket, and no weep hole.

FWIW, I just noticed my 77K has the bolt on motor mount. That bike came from Missouri.

I have a very late Parts book and no sign of it in there either. Just a weird anomaly and i’ve never seen it mentioned anywhere else. When you think of how many tiny changes are painfully documented, surprising this one never turns up........ thanks for all the interesting input!
